  • Our read: Accenture plc carried an EasyAlpha quality grade of C into the session, reflecting average quality among technology industry peers. Strong debt load anchors the business, while price trend remains the primary watch item.
  • The day: The shares closed +16.0% at $212.69 after fourth-quarter results and full-year guidance topped expectations.
  • Watching: Share price performance after moving 9.2% above the average analyst price target of $193.03.

On Thursday, October 1, the stock jumped 16.0% to mark its second-largest daily gain over the past year. Trading activity surged to 5.4x the 20-session average, lifting the stock's one-month return to +13.1%.

The rally followed fourth-quarter financial results that came in ahead of Wall Street expectations. The company reported adjusted earnings of $3.29 per share on revenue of $18.70 billion, beating analyst forecasts of $3.18 per share on $18.03 billion. Revenue rose 6% year over year, while new bookings reached $22.2 billion, featuring a record 141 major client contracts valued at $100 million or higher.

For fiscal 2027, management forecast net sales between $76.43 billion and $78.65 billion, outpacing the $76.41 billion consensus estimate. Adjusted profit is expected to range from $14.39 to $14.81 per share, supported by a commitment to distribute at least $9.5 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks. The results helped counter market worries that generative artificial intelligence could shrink demand for traditional technology consulting, as enterprise clients continued committing capital to digital foundation and deployment projects.

The sharp rebound arrives after a difficult stretch for the stock, which remains -20.7% so far this year and sits 25.4% below its 52-week high of $285.21. Operating fundamentals remain steady, with an 24.4% return on equity, a 10.7% profit margin, and a forward price-to-earnings ratio of 12.4.

Following the surge, the shares trade above the average analyst price target, even with 51.9% of analyst ratings recommending a buy. While fourth-quarter execution confirmed resilient enterprise demand, price trend remains the primary area to monitor as the stock works to rebuild its longer-term trend.

  • CAverage quality
  • DBelow average
  • EWeakest quality
How grades work →

A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
