- Watching: Quarterly earnings scheduled for Tuesday, November 3.
Trading volume on Wednesday was ordinary, tracking 0.9x the 20-session average as the stock absorbed fresh analyst and deployment updates. Analyst Christopher Rolland at Susquehanna lifted the firm's price target to $620 from $550 with a positive rating, pointing to durable demand across data center and artificial intelligence computing. Cloud infrastructure provider Vultr added support by announcing plans to deploy AMD Instinct MI355X accelerators across a 20-megawatt cluster in Chennai, India. Separately, benchmark results from MindWalk revealed that Amazon cloud instances running AMD EPYC processors screened 890,634 biological sequences in under five hours, outpacing competing server configurations.
Wednesday's move was an ordinary session for the stock, interrupting a recent pullback. Over the past month, the shares are -11.4%. Over the full year, however, the stock is +158.1% and sits 16.1% below its 52-week peak.
EasyAlpha grades the company C relative to its technology peers in the S&P 500. A C grade denotes average quality: a typical company for its peer group, where most stocks land. The company's standout pillar is growth. In the latest quarter, revenue was +50.1% year over year.
The primary counterweight is valuation. AMD trades at 136.4 times trailing earnings, pricing in substantial future expansion. Wall Street remains constructive on that trajectory: among 56 analysts covering the stock, 80.4% rate it a buy, with an average price target of $636.21.
That gap highlights the tension between market enthusiasm and historical quality. Historically, companies graded A or B have stronger fundamentals and carry a lower risk of large drawdowns than companies in the lowest tiers. The next test of whether the business can support that valuation arrives on Tuesday, November 3, when AMD reports quarterly earnings.

How grades work
Every day we grade each company against the other companies in its sector, looking at its finances, how its stock trades, and what the market is signaling. The result is one simple letter.
- AExcellent quality
- BGood quality
- CAverage quality
- DBelow average
- EWeakest quality
A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
