  • Our read: FirstCash Inc is graded D by EasyAlpha while 100.0% of 4 analyst ratings are buys in Financial Services among the top 1,000 U.S. companies, where historical growth is countered by a deteriorating price trend.
  • The day: The shares fell 14.7% to $184.78 on Thursday, October 22 after troubles in point-of-sale retail financing overwhelmed record pawn earnings.
  • Watching: The quarterly cash dividend reaches its record date on November 13, 2026, ahead of scheduled payment on November 24, 2026.

FirstCash fell sharply on Thursday following its third-quarter financial results. Reported quarterly revenue change stood at +29.4% year over year, supported by revenue and earnings growth in its pawn segments and expanding pawn store networks. The board also increased its quarterly cash dividend. Those operational gains were not enough to reassure investors, who focused on steep declines in the company's American First Finance division.

The unit, which provides point-of-sale payment solutions and lease-to-own financing for retail consumers, saw operating income, originations, and net revenue decline alongside weak fourth-quarter segment guidance. Pawn equities faced additional headwind as gold prices fell nearly 2% during morning trade, weighing on peers across the sector.

The resulting selloff marked the company's largest single-day decline over the past year. Trading activity climbed to 5.8x the 20-session average as investors adjusted their growth expectations.

The drop exposed a stark disagreement between Wall Street and quantitative metrics. Wall Street analysts hold an average price target of $253.00, leaving the stock 36.9% below their consensus. Yet EasyAlpha entered the trading session grading FirstCash D among its industry peers. The grade evaluates peer-relative quality using historical data. Companies graded A or B have stronger fundamentals, and historically they have carried a lower risk of large drawdowns than companies graded D or E.

The company's historical profile explains the split. While growth was its strongest dimension, the price trend was the primary factor to watch. Even after the selloff, the stock trades at 24.7 times trailing earnings and remains +15.9% so far this year.

A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
