On Tuesday, October 13, 4 of the 8 tracked international markets advanced. The standout move belonged to India, roughly twice the size of its usual day, making India +1.9% the top performer among major global funds. At the opposite end, South Korea -2.1% trailed the group. Globally, the fund tracking the world finished flat at 0.0%, moving in lockstep with US shares, where the domestic market fund also closed at 0.0%.
In India, software exporter HCLTech helped spark a technology rebound after posting quarterly net income of 5,132 crore rupees alongside 3.258 billion dollars in contract bookings. Remarks from government officials spurred hopes that policymakers could review long-term capital gains taxes and securities transaction taxes. A firmer currency and broad buying in financial and consumer goods shares added further support across major domestic indexes.
In South Korea, reports that Chinese memory manufacturer CXMT made progress in dynamic random-access memory intensified competitive concerns for domestic chipmakers. Steep declines across major technology and semiconductor shares coincided with foreign investor selling and broader caution regarding artificial intelligence equipment spending. The rapid decline prompted temporary exchange trading curbs during the session.
Outside the two outliers, international markets saw quieter trading. In Europe, funds recorded modest positive sessions, including Germany +0.6%, Eurozone +0.4%, and United Kingdom +0.3%. In Asia, Japan 0.0% and China 0.0% ended unchanged, while broader emerging market exposure through Emerging Markets -0.6% closed lower.
For investors tracking these markets, economic calendars provide the next checkpoint. In India, government releases listed September wholesale price inflation data for October 14, offering fresh insight into domestic price pressures. In South Korea, official calendars showed no major statistical releases for October 14. The sovereign debt calendar likewise listed no government bond auctions for that date.

How grades work
Every day we grade each company against the other companies in its sector, looking at its finances, how its stock trades, and what the market is signaling. The result is one simple letter.
- AExcellent quality
- BGood quality
- CAverage quality
- DBelow average
- EWeakest quality
A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
