  • Our read: EasyAlpha grades Intel Corporation C, indicating average quality relative to its industry peers, with growth standing as its strongest attribute while profitability remains the primary watch item.
  • The day: The shares rose 9.1% to $104.47 following reports of planned processor price increases.
  • Watching: Third-quarter financial results scheduled for Thursday, October 22.

On Tuesday, September 8, shares of INTC climbed 9.1% on volume reaching 1.4x the 20-session average. The advance followed reports that Intel plans to lift central processing unit prices by 10%. The stock also drew support from reports that the company has taken an early lead in adopting ASML's next-generation chipmaking technology ahead of rivals.

The gain adds to a sustained rebound that has lifted the stock 334.4% above its 52-week low of $24.05, leaving the stock +183.1% so far this year. EasyAlpha entered the session grading the company C, placing it in the middle tier of its industry. Historically, companies graded A or B have exhibited more durable fundamentals and carried a lower risk of large drawdowns than those in the lowest tiers.

Across the company's financial metrics, Intel Corporation looks strongest in growth, with quarterly revenue growth at +25.4% year over year. But profitability remains the primary vulnerability in the file, with a profit margin of 19.8%. That margin level explains why reports of price increases matter to the market: expanding gross margins is essential if the company is to transform top-line expansion into bottom-line resilience.

Valuation adds another layer to the story. Intel trades at 49.5 times forward earnings, a multiple that reflects significant optimism about its turnaround. Wall Street analysts remain cautious about that setup. Only 29.2% of the analysts covering the stock rate it a buy, even as the average price target of $115.78 sits 10.8% above Tuesday's close. That leaves the majority of covering analysts holding neutral or cautious ratings even as their consensus target remains above current trading levels.

How grades work →

A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
