  • Our read: Interactive Brokers Group Inc is graded D by EasyAlpha while 75.0% of 12 analyst ratings are buys, with debt load scoring best and the dividend ranking as the chief watch item among Financial Services peers in the S&P 500.
  • The day: Shares dropped -7.1% to close at $90.39 after UBS downgraded the stock to neutral over valuation concerns.
  • Watching: Next quarterly earnings results scheduled for Thursday, October 15.

Tuesday's decline marked the fourth-largest daily drop of the past year for Interactive Brokers and its steepest fall since Wednesday, July 1. Trading volume reached 1.2x its 20-session average as UBS downgraded the stock from buy to neutral because valuation already reflects its growth advantages. In addition, Goldman Sachs removed the brokerage from its high-conviction list. Meanwhile, the company's August operating update showed daily average revenue trades slipped 3% from July, even as client accounts expanded. Broader markets also retreated as rising bond yields and oil prices pressured equities.

EasyAlpha grades the company D, placing it in the below-average quality tier among industry peers. In historical testing, companies graded A or B demonstrate stronger fundamentals and lower risk of large drawdowns than those graded D or E. The grade reflects peer-relative quality rather than a short-term market call. While Interactive Brokers achieved +26.3% revenue growth and a return on equity of 24.0%, the shares trade at 38.6 times earnings with a 0.3% dividend yield.

Despite the pullback, IBKR remains up +40.6% this year and 53.8% above its 52-week low. That performance stands alongside a notable divide between Wall Street and EasyAlpha's quality assessment. While EasyAlpha grades the company D, Wall Street remains bullish, with 75.0% of 12 analysts rating the stock a buy and targeting an average price of $106.13.

How grades work →

A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
