- Our read: EasyAlpha grades Micron Technology Inc C, reflecting average quality relative to its industry peers, where standout profitability balances against the dividend as a key watch item.
- The day: Shares rose 4.1% to close at $1,088.00 after an analyst lifted the price target to $3,000 on artificial intelligence demand.
- Watching: Union negotiations following a board meeting scheduled for Thursday and Friday, where workers urged the company to present a concrete bonus proposal.
On Wednesday, Micron shares advanced 4.1% in an ordinary session to finish at $1,088.00. The modest gain came as an analyst raised the stock's price target to $3,000 from $2,100, arguing that the market underestimates multiyear demand for high-bandwidth memory chips used in artificial intelligence. That optimism reflects a broader run that has lifted the stock 506.4% above its 52-week low.
That enthusiasm faced immediate friction on the factory floor. Workers at Micron's Taoyuan manufacturing plant in Taiwan voted to authorize a strike after talks over compensation broke down. The union rejected management's previous offer and demanded a bonus equal to 83 months of salary alongside a permanent quarterly share of operating profits. A walkout at the manufacturing hub could significantly impact the tight memory-chip market given Taiwan's central production role. The labor dispute also came just after the company agreed to pay $600 million to settle a patent dispute covering memory module designs.
Micron entered the session carrying a C grade from EasyAlpha, indicating average quality relative to its industry peers. The company looks strongest in profitability. In its latest quarterly report, revenue was +379.3% year over year, with a profit margin of 63.8% and return on equity of 88.3%. Those results show that current demand is translating directly into extraordinary cash generation.
Wall Street has focused almost entirely on that earnings momentum. Among the 49 analysts covering the stock, 91.8% rate it a buy, with an average price target of $1,535.57 that sits 41.1% above Wednesday's close. Yet EasyAlpha grades the company C. The top watch item is the dividend, where a 0.1% yield provides little downside cushion against a beta of 2.23. Industry analysts caution that the memory sector remains historically prone to boom-and-bust cycles as supply catches up with demand.

How grades work
Every day we grade each company against the other companies in its sector, looking at its finances, how its stock trades, and what the market is signaling. The result is one simple letter.
- AExcellent quality
- BGood quality
- CAverage quality
- DBelow average
- EWeakest quality
A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
