  • Our read: EasyAlpha grades Skyworks Solutions Inc D, indicating below average quality compared to its industry peers, where earnings quality is offset by lagging growth.
  • The day: Shares jumped +6.3% to close at $71.67 on Wednesday following strong participation in debt exchange offers for the planned Qorvo acquisition.
  • Watching: The extended September 11 expiration date for the debt exchange offers tied to the merger.

The sharp rise on Wednesday marked the ninth-largest daily gain over the past year for Skyworks, extending a three-session winning streak on volume 1.4x its average.

Merger progress drove the session. Skyworks announced an extension of its exchange offers for Qorvo senior notes due 2029 and 2031 to September 11, disclosing that 90.55% of the 2029 notes and 93.36% of the 2031 notes had already been tendered. A regulatory filing confirmed the high participation rates and the extended deadline for the merger debt exchange. The stock also caught a tailwind from broader markets, as semiconductor shares rallied alongside easing Treasury yields.

EasyAlpha entered Wednesday grading the company D, indicating below average quality relative to industry peers. While earnings quality leads the file, growth remains troubled. Revenue shrank -3.1% year over year in the latest quarter, and return on equity sits at 5.1% with a profit margin of 7.2%.

The rally lifted SWKS above prevailing Wall Street price targets. The stock closed 4.6% above the average analyst price target of $68.38, in a market where only 8.7% of the 23 covering analysts rate the shares a buy. The shares trade at a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 34.9, sitting 18.6% below their 52-week high of $88.05.

How grades work →

A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
