Wednesday was a quiet advance that kept major indexes near record territory without altering the market's underlying environment. Across the market, 57% of the top 1000 companies closed higher, and 7 of the 11 sectors rose, leaving the S&P 500 sitting -0.8% from its peak. Trading activity was subdued, with volume in the index proxy running at 76% of a typical day's volume. The session confirmed existing conditions rather than signaling a decisive shift in direction. Gains were led by large-cap technology shares, as strong quarterly profits from SpaceX and raised revenue projections from Super Micro Computer refreshed confidence in the computing infrastructure cycle.

Those corporate results bolstered sentiment across the hardware supply chain, reassuring investors about demand and profitability in artificial intelligence. Broader equity markets also drew support as earnings from companies including Capital One lifted sentiment. Elsewhere in earnings, Netflix fell on a weaker growth outlook.

Across sectors, Information Technology paced the session, with the sector closing +1.6%. The move was anchored by NVIDIA Corporation, which closed +2.5%, and Apple Inc., which closed +1.3%. On the opposite end, Communication Services was the primary laggard, closing -1.2% as Alphabet Inc Class C closed -1.6%, though our sources show no reported driver for the decline.

Because gains concentrated in mega-cap tech, the tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 led major benchmarks, closing +1.1%. The S&P 500 closed +0.5%, and SPY settled at $773.17. Blue chips also pushed higher, with the Dow closing +0.6%, while smaller companies saw quieter trading, leaving the Russell 2000 closing +0.3%.

Over the past three months, the S&P 500 has returned +4.7%. Wednesday absorbed corporate earnings without breaking that recent trajectory, despite narrow leadership and light participation.
