That heavyweight outperformance followed a third-quarter regulatory filing in which the company reported third-quarter results and raised its full-year adjusted earnings guidance to at least $20.50 per share. The report drew reiterated positive analyst coverage that supported the stock.
Health care was a rare pocket of strength in the broader market, where 3 of the 11 sectors rose. Moderna Inc was among the day's top gainers, closing +4.6%. Positive sentiment extended through several therapeutic areas as Amgen found support from pipeline momentum. Collaboration also supported the group, with Gilead entering an oncology research agreement. Meanwhile, AbbVie advanced following positive Phase 3 clinical data for its subcutaneous Crohn's disease treatment.
The rally did not reach every corner of the sector. Medical equipment maker Insulet Corporation was the session's primary laggard, finishing -3.0%, though our sources show no reported driver for the move.
At an expense ratio of 0.08%, the fund keeps annual holding costs low across its $43.4 billion portfolio. Following Wednesday's close at $173.93, the exchange-traded fund has preserved an extended upward trajectory, standing at +22.2% over the past twelve months.

How grades work
Every day we grade each company against the other companies in its sector, looking at its finances, how its stock trades, and what the market is signaling. The result is one simple letter.
- AExcellent quality
- BGood quality
- CAverage quality
- DBelow average
- EWeakest quality
A grade measures quality against the other companies in a sector, from historical data. It is not a prediction, not a price target, and not advice. A company can be graded A and still fall.
